We bring energy, purpose, and transformation to every stage, classroom, and gathering. Through dynamic performances, hands-on experiences, and powerful stories, we empower people of all ages to rise higher, dream bigger, and believe in what’s possible.
We produce entertainment, workshops, and motivational seminars that uplift our audiences and participants through encouragement, enlightenment, and motivation.
We envision communities with strong social bonds and linkages. Committed to providing thought-provoking productions, we strive to promote dialogue that leads to the development of social capital.
Tobal is an actor, author, poet, lyricist, singer, and songwriter. A native Washingtonian, Tobal’s experience has been one familiar to many African American men from the DC area. He discovered the art of writing in grade school, and began performing in his grandfather’s church at a young age. As a young man, he honed his artistic skills on the streets of DC as a street performer, and at the DC Department of Corrections Lorton facility as a ghost writer for illiterate inmates.
Tobal believes in the legitimacy of the performing arts as an educational medium, and recognizes that art is both product and process. As Chief Encouragement Officer (CEO), he founded Raisin’ da Bottom to encourage, enlighten, and motivate.
The Darq Sighed Playaz is the official performance troupe of Raisin’ da Bottom Productions. Using performance art, we enlighten the public on the darker elements of society with the intent of promoting dialogue that leads to tolerance and acceptance through understanding. The Darq Sighed Playaz is available to partner with human services organizations to provide performances tailored to specific program needs. Contact us for more information.
